Tom and Jerry is an American series of animated cartoon film made by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera for Metro-Godwyn-Mayer. Mainly focused on boundless rivalry between a cat which is Tom and a mouse which is Jerry, whose chases and battles often creates comic situations. Hanna and Barbera wrote and directed one hundred and fourteen Tom and Jerry shots at MGM cartoon studio in Hollywood in years between 1940 and 1957.
The original series has won the Academy Award for Animated Short Film seven times, tying it with Walt Disney as the theatrical animated series. A longtime television cartoon show, Tom and Jerry has a worldwide audience that consists of children, teenagers and adults too.
