When is Baisakhi?

What is Baisakhi?

For Sikhs, Baisakhi is a major religious festival, as the harvest festival and New Year’s Day both are celebrated on same day. This day marks the beginning of the Hindu solar New Year. Sikhs do the bhangra dance to tell the story of the agricultural process, from tilling the soil to harvesting. In Kerala, this festival is known as Vishu. It includes fireworks, shopping and interesting displays called Vishu Kani. In Assam, this festival is known as Bohag Bihu and the whole community organizes massive feasts, music and dancing.
