What is Chanukah?

Chanukah is the festival of lights in Jewish, feast of Consecration or Maccabees. Story of Chanukah begins in 167 B.C. while Jerusalem was ruled by the Greek Empire. Antiochus the 4th king of Greece forced the Jews to reject their religion and to worship the Greek gods instead, because of which Jews began a revolt, Judas Macabeus being the leader. Chanukah celebrates the rededication of the temple in Jerusalem, after 3 years of fighting against the Greeks.

When is Chanukah in 2011?

Chanukah will start on Wednesday, 21st of December 2011 continuing for 8 days till 28th of December, Wednesday. In Jewish calendar, holiday begins from the sunset of the previous day, so Jews will celebrate Chanukah on the sunset of Tuesday, 20th of December.

When is Chanukah in 2012?

Chanukah will start on Sunday, 9th of December 2012 continuing for 8 days till 16th of December, Sunday. In Jewish calendar, holiday begins from the sunset of the previous day, so Jews will celebrate Chanukah on the sunset of Saturday, 8th of December.

When is Chanukah in 2013?
