Rockstar is Imtiaz Ali’s film that seeks motivation for the storyline from lifespan of iconic, charismatic and famous musician & actor Jim Morrison. The film is about local Haryanvi boy, Janardhan Jakhar or simply JJ from small neighborhood of Pitam Pura, Delhi, who desires to become a big star one day however his dream is taken as plot for amusement and jokes by his friends.
Movie begins with rock concert starred by Jordon (JJ) at famous Verona Arena, Italy where JJ was assailed by thugs a moment ago and manages to escape and reaches the stage. He smashes up all barriers and shows absolute disrespect for his fans, storms the stage in a fit of rant and rave & starts playing his guitar. After this, movie travels into flash-back where JJ meets Heer Kaul, a beautiful girl from Stephen’s College and finds that she is “perfect heartbreaking machine”.
Turning point of story is the Heer’s wedding in Kashmir, after which she departs to Prague with her husband and before leaving JJ she coins him a new name Jordan. On other hand, JJ life takes an ugly turn and he decide to return to his home but he was thumped and thrown out of his house by his elder brother as he attended Heer’s wedding and for taking 5 Lakh rupees without taking anyone’s permission. Eventually he starts singing for Dhingra’s “Platinum Records” and hopefully Dhingra intends to send group of artists for tour and recordings to Prague.
Here meanwhile Heer has health issue and constantly visits psychiatrist for treatment. Hopefully, Jordan and Heer meet each other and Jordan tries to confess his love toward her but being a married woman Heer rejects his proposal as soon as he move ahead. In the meantime, Heer health condition becomes worst and Mandy (Heer’s younger sister) ideas to call Jordan as she thinks that his presence can heal up Heer’s health problem. However in Jordan’s presence Heer starts recovering quickly and convinces Jordan to return back to his work and meet her later after its completion. On other side, Heer health condition again turn into worst and Mandy decides to call Jordan for help as she call her before to help them to make Heer recover her health but she doesn’t and slowly slips into coma and film ends with Jordan performing “Nadaan Parindey” song and he imagines Heer’s spirit is flown into him.
